Directive 04 - Cuba Deployment

I. Situation

A. Enemy Forces

  • Infantry & Motorized:
    • Main force consists of mixed infantry companies equipped with Western small arms (M4 carbines, FN FALs, PKM machine guns, and RPG-7s).
    • Approximately 500 personnel operating inside the AO.
    • Light vehicles (SUVs, technicals, sedans, and M1151 Humvees) used for patrols, convoy escort, and rapid response missions.
  • Mechanized & Armor:
    • Force maintains limited mechanized capability, primarily consisting of Soviet-era BMP-1/2 IFVs and a small number of U.S. M113 APCs.
    • Armored element includes T-72 main battle tanks supported by BTR-80 APCs for mobility. Improvised technicals with mounted DShKs and recoilless rifles provide flexible fire support.
  • Artillery & Fire Support:
    • Mixture of Soviet and Western systems including D-30 122mm howitzers, BM-21 Grad rocket launchers, and U.S.-supplied M119 105mm light howitzers.
    • Mortar sections with 81mm and 120mm tubes for organic fire support.
  • Aerial Assets:
    • Fixed-Wing: 3x MiG-21 Fishbed squadrons providing limited air-to-air and ground strike capability.
    • Rotary-Wing (Russian): Mi-8/17 transport helicopters, Mi-24 Hind gunships for close air support.
    • Rotary-Wing (U.S./Vietnam Era): UH-1H Huey utility helicopters for troop lift, medevac, and light gunship roles.
    • Limited ISR capability via light prop aircraft and commercial drones.

B. Friendly Forces

  • Their Mission & Intent:
    Liberate Cuba from the regime of the Western-aligned Cuban Government. The operation aims to dismantle the military capabilities of the Cuban Liberation Army and secure key infrastructure.

II. Probable Mission and Execution (WWH)

ION Services has been contracted by the CIA to conduct a military operation in Cuba, specifically targeting the Cuban Army and its leadership. The operation is part of a broader effort to destabilize the regime and support local insurgent groups.
  • Who:
    Elements of ION Zeus and attached ISR/EW & LSS support elements.
  • What:
    OBJ FAULT - Locate intel provided to the Cuban Army by Anvil regarding ION troop movement in Cuba.
  • How:

    1. Insertion by Rotary-Wing Lift
    • Helicopters will transport light boats to LZ CHIMERA.
    • Boats will be launched and maneuver to Linkup Point LULU.

    2. Linkup and Mobility Transition
    • At Linkup LULU, forces will conduct linkup with Cuban Revolutionary Front (CRF) elements.
    • Friendly vehicles secured by CRF troops will be mounted.
    • Convoy will advance via MSR TIRE to MSR ALTA.

    3. Breakthrough Operations
    • Force will push through the dam complex, engaging and bypassing 24th Mechanized Cuban Army resistance.
    • Maneuver will continue along MSR PERSA to reach Objective FAULT.

    4. Sensitive Site Exploitation (SSE)
    • On securing Objective FAULT, teams will locate and recover critical intelligence related to ION troop movements.
    • SSE will include document collection, digital media recovery, and detainee questioning as required.

    5. Extraction
    • Upon mission completion, exfiltration will occur via helicopter airlift and boat recovery back to ION FOB.
